
The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (previously known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment) the new and mandatory, energy saving and carbon emissions reduction scheme for the UK is now up-and running. The 5,000 plus organisations in the UK that consumed more than 6,000 MWh (around £500K spend) of electricity between January 2008 and December 2008 have from now until 30th September 2010 to register as a Participant.
Organisations that used less than 6,000 MWh of electricity during 2008 are not exempt from the Scheme and will have to make an Information Disclosure.
As qualified Energy Assessors, Inteb are able to carry out air conditioning system inspections as required by regulations within the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
These EU-wide regulations require that all air conditioning systems with an effective rated output of 12 kW must be regularly inspected by an energy assessor. The inspections must be a maximum of 5 years apart.
The first inspection of all existing systems with over 250 kW of cooling capacity should have been completed by 4th January 2009. The first inspection of all existing systems with an effective rated output of over 12 kW must be completed by 4th January 2011.
